Redbox distribution model gathers differing opinions

The controversy swirling around Redbox movie-rental kiosks and the company's $1 pricing strategy has not gone unnoticed by some top executives. Viacom Chief Executive Officer Philippe Dauman said his company's Paramount unit would use Redbox to distribute new releases to gain key information on how its movies perform in alternative distribution platforms, but Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes defended his company's decision to delay by about a month the availability of Warner Bros. movies in the kiosks.
