AT&T eyes mid-2011 launch of LTE services

AT&T and Verizon Wireless sought this week to clarify and update their LTE launch plans, with an AT&T executive saying the carrier would introduce service in 2011, possibly only six months behind Verizon's extended rollout of the 4G service. AT&T Operations CEO John Stankey predicted the telecom could cover up to 75 million points of presence by the end of that year. Verizon Wireless says it wants to link its LTE service with other consumer-electronics products.
