Choosing Wisely includes recommendations on DVT screening after joint replacement

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons recently released a list of five guidelines as part of the Choosing Wisely directives for improving care. As part of the campaign, the group advises against routine ultrasound screening for deep vein thrombosis in hospitalized hip and knee replacement patients if they are asymptomatic for blood clots.
