N.Y. caregivers say they need more resources

New York residents are telling the AARP that caregivers need more state support, according to the lobby's legislative representative Bill Ferris, who said Medicaid costs would be billions of dollars higher if not for the services provided to patients by relatives and friends. As the AARP neared the end of a statewide listening tour, it also heard calls for better training for institutional care providers and for a greater range of choices between assisted living and nursing homes.
