EEI-backed forum seeks to build bridges between consumers, utilities

Consumers and utilities may never see eye to eye on every issue affecting the advancement of the smart grid, but the Critical Consumer Issues Forum hopes to foster consensus in key areas. The organization, sponsored by the Edison Electric Institute, has hosted four gatherings with investor-owned utilities, consumer advocates and state regulators designed to hash out issues such as consumer privacy, benefits of grid modernization versus the cost and third-party access to consumer energy-use data.
