Firefighters train at Dyess Air Force Base's new facility in Texas

Texas firefighters put out 500 gallons of burning jet-fuel propellant at Dyess Air Force Base's new $1.2 million training facility in Abilene, Texas, on Friday. Propane is used to train firefighters at bases nationwide, but the new facility uses JP-8, which fuels the C-130 and the B-1 bomber. Officials said using JP-8 -- which is not allowed to be burned in many states for environmental reasons -- better prepares firefighters for an on-base emergency.
