Sen. Baucus pushes for higher taxes on the wealthy

Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., spoke in favor of higher taxes for wealthy Americans at a hearing of the Senate Finance Committee last week. Congress should let current tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans expire instead of cutting Social Security and Medicare benefits, he said. Baucus said the wealthy have seen faster income growth than most Americans over the past three decades.
