Pension funds continue to battle OTC derivatives rules

Pension funds received an exemption from the European Market Infrastructure Regulation, but fund managers remain concerned about the rules, which are meant to govern trading in over-the-counter derivatives. Managers are concerned that EMIR will threaten pension schemes' liability-driven investment programs. LDI mandates regularly use inflation and interest-rates swaps, which will be required to go through central clearing under EMIR.
