Study looks at risk of gestational diabetes in women over 35

Women who conceive at 35 and older were twice as likely to develop gestational diabetes mellitus, while the risk for those older than 40 is three times greater, the Canadian Institute for Health Information warned. One-third to one-half of those diagnosed with gestational diabetes develop type 2 diabetes, a CIHI official said.
