33 in El Paso County, Texas, accused of prescription-drug fraud

Thirty-three El Paso County, Texas, residents have been arrested for suspected involvement in a prescription-drug fraud scheme that was uncovered through a joint operation of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Drug Enforcement Administration in El Paso, as well as other agencies. The suspects are accused of obtaining Vicodin, Percocet and Xanax through fraudulent or stolen prescriptions and "doctor shopping." According to officials, who have been investigating the case since June 2011, at least 300 prescriptions and 32,000 pills were involved.
