HHS, the U.S. attorney general's office and the Federal Trade Commission announced on Wednesday the launch of an initiative that focuses on privacy protection and fraud prevention and detection for the coming health insurance exchanges. "We have strong security safeguards in the marketplace to protect people's personal information against fraud and we will work with our partners to aggressively prosecute bad actors, just as we have been doing in Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program," said HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in a statement. The agencies have set up a toll-free number for fraud reports through the Marketplace call center, a centralized complaint database and a "rapid response" mechanism in the event of a data breach.
