Quarantined cat escapes in R.I.

North Smithfield, R.I., residents have been warned that a 12.5-pound domestic orange cat that may have rabies is on the loose. The cat, originally from Massachusetts and not current on its rabies vaccine, was placed under quarantine after obtaining a wound from an unknown source and later biting a person. Although prohibited by quarantine, the owner traveled with the cat to Rhode Island, where the cat escaped.
