Diabetes raises heart risk in patients with fatty liver

A study on 112 patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease revealed that those with diabetes scored higher in two cardiovascular disease measures than those without diabetes. The findings suggest that progression of NAFLD may coincide with an increased risk of heart disease, especially in diabetes patients, researchers said. The results were presented at the European Society for the Study of Diabetes meeting.
