Burns could signal child abuse, neglect, study says

Physicians should consider burns in young children as a potential warning sign of abuse and neglect, British researchers said. The study of 145 children hospitalized for burns before age 3 found one-third were referred to social services by age 6 and 10% were placed in protective services because of abuse or neglect.
