The test in Washington, D.C., of a mobile DTV service that includes local broadcast stations and cable channels shows the potential of similarly expanding cable's TV Everywhere initiative, writes SNL Kagan analyst Tim Doyle. The trial, unlike Qualcomm's FLO TV, resembles home-based multichannel pay TV offerings. Cablers are "interested in the research side, about how they would line up with local live channels," said Anne Schelle, executive director of the Open Mobile Video Coalition. "It's another distribution platform for them; why wouldn't they be on every distribution platform they can get on?"
