Cameras discover new cracks in Ohio nuclear plant's concrete shield

After bores were made to insert inspection cameras, new hairline cracks were discovered in the 2.5-foot-thick concrete shield at FirstEnergy's Davis-Besse nuclear plant in Oak Harbor, Ohio. They also showed that cracks found in 2011 had grown slightly. However, "[a]nalysis of all inspection results to date confirms the 2011 conclusion that the shield building's structural integrity is not impacted by the presence of these tight cracks," said Davis-Besse site Vice President Ray Lieb.
