Shell Oil to sell Kan. shale holdings

Shell Oil is selling 600,000 acres' worth of leases and 45 producing shale wells in Kansas, the company said, confirming its departure from the state. "As part of that process, in some cases -- as in this review -- assets are identified that do not meet our targets and the best value option for Shell is to divest," said Scott Scheffler, a spokesman for the company. Shell, however, is still dedicated to North American unconventional plays despite the move, Scheffler added.
