Revision to bill would make CVS, Medco disclose rebates

An amendment to the health care reform bill proposed by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., would require CVS Caremark, Medco Health Solutions and other pharmacy benefit managers to disclose to nonprofit insurance cooperatives the rebates they receive from drug companies and how much they pass on to customers. "These proposals tend to increase costs and give drugstores and drug companies the negotiating leverage they need to keep drug costs higher than they should be," PCMA President and CEO Mark Merritt said.
