Braskem is plowing $50 million into modernizing U.S. sites

Brazilian petrochemical firm Braskem will invest $50 million in upgrades for some of its U.S. facilities, including polypropylene plants in La Porte, Texas, Neal, W.Va., and Marcus Hook, Pa. Braskem will also close its slurry-type PP line in Texas and increase the capacity of its facility that makes the modern Spheripol-brand line. "These moves will allow Braskem America to improve efficiencies and reliability," said Carlos Fadigas, CEO of Braskem's U.S. unit.
