China and others are outpacing U.S. in clean-energy race, investors say

The U.S. is in danger of losing its lead in clean-energy technology to China and other countries if it continues to drag its feet on legislation and policy that support the renewable-energy sector, said Ravi Viswanathan, an executive of venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates. Speaking before a congressional hearing chaired by Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., Viswanathan said China and other countries "have outpaced the U.S. in recruiting, incenting and developing domestic manufacturing of solar, wind and battery technology."
