Analysis: Public pensions make small dent in $900B funding gap

In the last three years, 45 states have reduced public pension benefits, but the actions have helped cut only $100 billion of the $900 billion funding gap, according to Boston College researchers. In 2010, public workers were paying an additional 10% toward their retirement as compared with three years earlier, which eventually will help to further close the gap, researchers say.
