Calif. high-school student creates literacy council, launches book drive

High-school student Ryan Traynor has created and recruited fellow students from other schools to form the Youth Literacy Council for Redwood City, Calif. The council, part of the Redwood City Library Foundation, will launch a book drive in October to collect books for children. Traynor, 14, said he was inspired after winning a young writers and illustrators contest in 2008.
