Docs to reps: Don't overstay your welcome

Oncologists, primary care doctors, pediatricians and psychiatrists are open to contact with drug representatives, but they want those reps to keep the contact to five minutes or less, a CMI/Compas survey found. Half of the health care providers surveyed prefer in-person contact, 43% prefer a Web conference and 79% favor electronic detailing. Doctors seem to have higher tolerance for a Web conference lasting longer than 15 minutes than they do for a phone call of equal duration, but very few would tolerate in-person, Web conference, phone call or e-detail lasting 30 minutes.
