Government shutdown won't affect ACA but will stymie research, experts say

A federal shutdown would likely not interfere with health insurance exchanges because the Affordable Care Act funds the marketplaces through mandatory, not discretionary, spending. A shutdown would, however, halt NIH grant funding, CMS anti-fraud efforts and CDC public health programs.
