Groups expect tens of millions in fines for Hawaii molasses spill

Matson, the company that accidentally dumped 233,000 gallons of molasses into Honolulu Harbor, could face penalties reaching into the tens of millions of dollars, environmental groups say. Matson said the state warned it about its leaking pipeline more than a year before the spill, which damaged a coral reef and killed more than 26,000 fish.
