Study measures pharmacists' influence on patients' drug choices

Pharmacists may influence patients' choices on an average of seven over-the-counter items and nearly five prescription therapies each day, a Kantar Media survey found. A pharmacist fills an average of 254 prescriptions each day and suggests a generic drug 85% of the time that one is available. Half the pharmacists surveyed say they will see all or most drug representatives who come calling.
