An FDA labeling requirement on packaged salmon stems from a class-action suit charging three major food retailers with failing to advise consumers that their salmon contains artificial coloring. The lawsuit and labeling has prompted the farmed-salmon industry to tell consumers that the issue is labeling, not safety.
