Minimum wage gets a boost in several U.S. states

California, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York have raised their minimum wages from the federal rate of $7.25 and more states may soon follow suit, writes Pamela Prah. California's decision to instate a $10 minimum wage may serve as an example for other states, though many politicians and business groups oppose the measure.
