NACTO guide aims to improve design of city streets

The Urban Street Design Guide, a manual released by the National Association of City Transportation Officials, aims to develop a form of DNA for streets, says association President Janette Sadik-Khan, who is also commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation. The guide offers six principles, including designing for safety and remembering that streets are crucial to public life.
