Pa. lawmakers look to nix property taxes

An effort in the Pennsylvania House to eliminate property taxes as a source of school funding would leave it up to districts to determine how to make up the lost revenue. Some worry the schools would lean too heavily on businesses for funding, given that two options for revenue replacement include increasing the earned income tax and raising the taxes that businesses pay on the goods and services they sell.
