USPSTF: All adults should be screened for alcohol problems

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force issued new guidelines urging primary care providers to screen all adult patients for alcohol misuse and offer brief counseling when needed. The recommendations, which reaffirmed the panel's 2004 guidelines on alcohol screening, are based on a review of studies that found counseling helped lower binge drinking.
