Cloud computing comes with regulations, legal requirements

Regulations regarding cloud computing -- at both the state and federal level -- may be confusing for educators and others, Justin Bathon, an assistant professor of education leadership at the University of Kentucky and a director of the Center for the Advanced Study of Technology Leadership in Education, writes in this commentary. Among the minutia that school district leaders should be paying attention to -- but most likely are not -- are rules regarding transfer rights and the private contracts between districts and vendors that govern how the data is stored and accessed, Bathon suggests.
