Many pediatric facilities are taking extra measures in preventing CLABSIs

Researchers surveyed infection preventionists from 50 U.S. and Canadian pediatric facilities in 2012 and found that almost all respondents reported supplementing insertion and maintenance bundles with an additional intervention for preventing central line-associated bloodstream infections. The poll revealed that 44% of the facilities used at least one extra protocol, such as a disinfectant cap, for reducing needleless connector contamination.
