Shell exits shale oil project in Colo.

Royal Dutch Shell is ending a project to convert shale oil from Colorado's Western Slope into oil to concentrate on other ventures, the company announced. The project was launched in 1982, but changes in the energy markets since then prompted the decision. "Our focus is to work with our staff and contractors to safely stop research activities and close the site," said Shell spokeswoman Kelly op de Weegh.
