Survey: 57% of physicians examine lower-back pain

A survey of 295 adults with lower back pain found 57% of visits with doctors included a physical inspection while 20% said visits did not include a palpation, Northwestern University researchers reported in the journal Spine. The study, which included 696 physician visits, found 72% of orthopedic surgeons did a physical inspection, compared with 40% of chiropractors.
