Fred's follows others, lowers cost of generic drugs

Following the lead of Wal-Mart Stores, another chain pharmacy has lowered its generic drug prices. Fred's announced Tuesday a trial program in its Memphis stores that will see discounted prices on its 300 most common generic drugs. "We also expect this program will benefit many Memphis-area businesses that are experiencing rising health care costs for employees," Fred's CEO said.
