Scientists developing method for 3-D, genetic images of cancer

U.S. researchers are using a grant from the Department of Defense to develop 3-D, genetic images of cancer, particularly pancreatic tumors, to allow surgeons to view, examine and manipulate organs and tissues before surgery. The method will allow for better planning of a patient's operation, one expert said. A molecular imaging expert said the method will help improve evaluation of experimental biomolecules being explored for cancer treatment.
