Research on Marcellus Shale is used to fit opposing groups' views, scientist says

Duke University biologist Rob Jackson said that a report he co-authored regarding drilling in the Marcellus Shale has been used mostly by groups that are against the operations to fit their views. The report, which went viral in May, revealed that wells situated near drilling operations in the Marcellus Shale contained high rates of methane contamination. "Our data has been used primarily by people opposed to fracking, but that's not how I see our data. I think our data provides a mixed story," said Jackson.
