Study: Fruit and vegetable types, intake affect CRC risk

Various types of fruits and vegetables have different effects on colorectal cancer, Australian researchers reported in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association. They found that vegetables in the brassica family, such as broccoli and cauliflower, reduce the risk of proximal colon cancers; fruit juices increase the likelihood of rectal cancer; and total fruit and vegetable intake reduces the risk for distal colon cancer.
