Doctor advocates injection as PTSD treatment

Stellate ganglion block treatment may help former service members battling PTSD who don't respond to standard treatment, says Dr. Eugene Lipov, medical director at Chicago's Advanced Pain Centers. The federally approved injection, which targets parts of the brain associated with PTSD, takes about 15 minutes to administer and has been shown to result in a reduction of symptoms in as quickly as 30 minutes. The treatment is not currently supported by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
