Surety is paying subs, choosing new contractor for N.C. project

Winston-Salem, N.C., has decided to remove a contractor from a fire station construction project. A surety has stepped in to meet the company's payment commitments and to find a replacement contractor. The original contractor won the bid to build the $2.2 million station as part of a bidding process that took place about a year ago.
