American Express announces planned sale of 50% of business travel unit

American Express said that it is in talks to sell half of its Global Business Travel unit to an investor group led by Certares. Under the deal, the group will join American Express in a joint venture in which it will invest between $700 million and $1 billion. The deal is expected to conclude in the second quarter of 2014.
