Automatic IRAs get mixed review from GAO

The General Accountability Office both acknowledged that automatic individual retirement accounts could induce savings from employees without retirement plans, while acknowledging that the increases would likely be moderate at best. The report from Congress' investigative branch also highlighted that tax-deferred IRAs would decrease government revenue by $1 billion annually.
