Bipartisan backing is needed for TRIA reauthorization, lawmaker says

Senate banking committee Chairman Tim Johnson, D-S.D., said he hopes for "bipartisan consensus" to reauthorize the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, which is scheduled to expire at the end of 2014. Insurance Information Institute President Robert Hartwig also voiced support for the program's extension, and he called the federal terrorism-insurance backstop an "indispensable component" of U.S. security.
