It pays to be cautious when hiring, writes Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group. Focus on finding people with the personality and adaptability to thrive, and don't be afraid to leave positions vacant if the right candidate hasn't emerged. "If you hire the wrong person at the top of a company, they can destroy it in no time at all," Branson warns.
