Food franchisees fight proposed bans on plastic foam containers

Proposed bans on polystyrene coffee cups and foodservice packaging in several U.S. cities and counties have restaurant franchisees concerned about high costs and the lack of more environmentally friendly options. Some opponents of the bans including IFA Senior Director Dean Heyl have said that polystyrene alternatives aren't actually better for the environment, but cost more.
