Grocery Outlet eyes store in San Francisco food desert

Grocery Outlet has applied for permits to build a store in a San Francisco neighborhood classified as a food desert by the USDA. The developer was set to appear before the city Planning Commission to request permission to build a supermarket larger than 6,000 square feet, the limit on the site; to install 53 parking spaces; and to bring in a chain store.
