Ind. district mulls meal fund for students who fall through the cracks

Members of the school board in an Indiana district plan to work with parents to establish a special fund to help students pay for school meals. The fund would be designed to help students who do not qualify for subsidized meals but do not have enough money to pay for the meals. The plan comes as the district has established an alternative lunch option for students with negative balances -- providing them with a cheese sandwich and milk.
