The need for an adaptable CIO

Complex markets and radically changing regulations have transformed the role of chief information officers as the back-office has supplanted the front-office when it comes to technology. The CIO must be able to embrace, but not overcommit to new technologies and operate under a microscope, watching to see technological causes for market catastrophes. CIOs have even started reaching outward to reduce expenditures while maintaining an innovative IT department.
