Oregon Zoo's young lion cub under veterinary care

Sick with what's believed to be septicemia, one of the three female lion cubs born Sept. 7 at the Oregon Zoo has been hospitalized there in intensive care. The cub stopped nursing, became lethargic and lost weight, so she was placed in the zoo's Veterinary Medical Center where staff performed X-rays and blood tests, according to veterinarian Tim Storms. She is receiving broad-spectrum antibiotics along with puppy formula and a taurine supplement and is improving.
